Whelpdale (pictured) signed for the Clarets from Stevenage in August 2018 and made 44 appearances in all competitions, scoring 11 goals throughout the 2018/19 season.
The winger became a fans favourite as the season progressed and played a vital role in maintaining City’s push to finish in the Playoff positions, with the Clarets unfortunately coming up short last Sunday away to Welling United.
He also bagged the National League South's February Player of the Month award after impressing in each of the fixtures against Hungerford Town, East Thurrock United and Gloucester City. Whelpdale scored five goals in five matches, striking twice throughout the month. This included a Goal of the Season contender to open the scoring in a 4-1 win over Hungerford Town, only to be pipped to the post by Mickey Spillane's goal from the half-way line away to Wealdstone back in September.
Chris' achievements on the pitch were matched off the pitch as he was heavily involved with the Club's Community Project, which included school visits and choreographing goal celebrations for our home games where students and parents from our school visits were in attendance.
The Club would like to take this moment to congratulate Chris on this fine achievement. Well done, Chris!
