Ben Marlow, a former West Ham Academy youngster, has joined the Clarets after spending time at fellow Vanarama National League South side Bishop’s Stortford.
Marlow, who is described as a box-to-box midfielder, has also been on-loan at Canvey Island and will help bolster Mark Hawkes’s options in midfield.
Michael Thalassitis (pictured) has also joined the club and brings with him a wealth of experience. The 22-year-old striker began his career with Stevenage before joining Boreham Wood, Hayes & Yeading, Cambridge United, Bishop’s Stortford and Ebbsfleet on-loan before teaming up with Bishop’s Stortford permanently earlier this year.
Thalassitis, who has been capped by Cyprus at both Under 19 and Under 21 level, netted 11 goals in 24 matches for Ebbsfleet during 2013-14. He was ruled out for nine months at the end of that season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in the last minute of the Fleet's play-off final loss to Dover. He was subsequently released by Stevenage.
Both Thalassitis and Marlow have been training with the Clarets for the past couple of weeks and go into Saturday's squad to face Bath City away.
Meanwhile, Chelmsford City can confirm that striker Tomi Adeloye has had his contract with the club terminated by mutual consent, with boss Hawkes saying: “He’s been released by mutual consent and we wish the lad well.”
Adeloye joined the Clarets following his release from Stoke City in the summer and went on to score twice in seven appearances.
Winger Jonah Gosling has also left the Clarets after taking a job in Manchester, and Hawkes added: “He’s unfortunately left the club as he’s got a new job in Manchester, meaning he also has to move there. It’s unfortunate but we thank him for his efforts and wish him the very best for the future.”
Chelmsford City would like to welcome both Ben Marlow and Michael Thalassitis to the Melbourne Stadium and wish them a successful and enjoyable stay while also thanking Tomi Adeloye and Jonah Gosling for their services, wishing them the very best in their future endeavours.
