Porter Makes Switch from Bromley

By Scott Hatley

THE CLARETS can confirm this morning that midfielder Max Porter has signed for the Club from National League Premier side Bromley.

Porter put pen to paper with the Club last night and joins having spent just over a year at Bromley having joined them in July 2015 from Newport County.

The 29-year-old began his career in the set ups at Tottenham Hotspur and Southend United before signing a professional contract with Cambridge United in 2005.

Having only made eight appearances for The U’s, Porter moved on to Bishop’s Stortford and has had spells with Barnet, Rushden & Diamonds and AFC Wimbledon as well as representing the England C side.

After initially joining Newport County on loan in 2012, Porter made the move permanent and helped the Club to the Conference Play-Off Finals where they beat Welsh rivals Wrexham at Wembley Stadium to secure promotion to the Football League.

Porter would go on to make almost 100 appearances for Newport before being released in 2015 where he was signed by Bromley.

Yesterday, after just over a year at Hayes Lane, his contract with The Ravens was terminated with Rod Stringer acting swiftly to bring the midfielder to Melbourne Park.
