CLARETS move to snap up ex-Colchester keeper as cover

“The 21-year-old stopper arrives at the Melbourne Stadium purely as cover for the Clarets regular stopper, Ross Fitzsimons”

CHELMSFORD City have bolstered their squad ahead of the National League South promotion run-in with the signing of former Colchester United goalkeeper, James Bransgrove.

Bransgrove started his career at Waltham Abbey before joining Brentford in 2012. He linked up with Colchester United in 2013, but the one-time Scotland under 18’s international found first-team opportunities limited at the Weston Homes Community Stadium. Loan spells to Bishop’s Stortford, under Rod Stringer, Maldon & Tiptree and Wealdstone followed, but in December 2016, he announced that he was to retire from professional football in order to pursue a career in business, having undertaken a Business Management degree with the Open University.
