Hemel Hempstead Preview: Clarets travel to Tudors in League

10 months ago By Matt Lee

Chelmsford City aim for consecutive away wins as they travel to Hemel Hempstead today (3pm) in the Vanarama National League South.

“As far as I am concerned, as long as we keep putting points on the board, then we’ll have a look at it in a couple of months time.” Rod Stringer

Important: Following an early pitch inspection, today's League fixture has been CALLED OFF. A new date will be announced in due course.

The Clarets maintained their title challenge last Saturday with a 2-0 victory at Gloucester City. Chris Dickson’s header midway through the first half gave City the lead, before Kudus Oyenuga sealed the victory late on from the penalty spot - scoring his third spot-kick in two matches.

Meanwhile Dean Brennan’s Tudors made comfortable work of an away trip to Whitehawk, returning to Hertfordshire with all three points following a resounding 5-0 reverse win. Will Hoskins sent the visitors on their way before James Kaloczi doubled the lead on the half-hour mark. Hoskins grabbed his second and Hemel’s third after fifty minutes, before Matthew Campbell-Mhlope and Alexander Osborn extended the lead further before the full-time whistle.

Team News:

City remain without Lee Barnard and Jonny Giles through injury, however Chelmsford boss Rod Stringer will be boosted by the return of Anthony Church and Elliot Omozusi. Scott Davies also returns to the fold after missing the Gloucester City match through injury.

Craig Braham-Barrett returns to contention for selection having been suspended.

The hosts could be without Spencer McCall after the midfielder required medical attention before being substituted at Whitehawk.

View from the City camp:
Speaking after an away victory at Gloucester City, Chelmsford City boss Rod Stringer stated:

“There’s competition,” he said. “I love competition and I love players like Churchy who shows that he has been out for a while - he has jumped in a bit earlier than maybe he should have - but he wears the shirt with a lot of pride.

“It’s been a very strange season.

“But a big three points at Gloucester is all we set out to do. As far as I am concerned, as long as we keep putting points on the board, then we’ll have a look at it in a couple of months time.”
