City hope to bounce back at Hungerford Town

By User 490922

Chelmsford City target their first win of the League campaign at Hungerford Town tomorrow (3pm kick-off).

“I was a bit disappointed when we haven’t taken any chances, but I thought over the first 25 minutes we were good.” Rod Stringer

The Clarets have undergone a mixed start to the Vanarama National League South campaign, drawing their opening game of the season 0-0 before Tuesday’s 1-0 loss at Kent rivals Dartford.

City boss Rod Stringer and Darts joint-manager Adam Flanagan were both sent off in an il-tempered Essex-Kent Derby, with Elliot Bradbrook’s second-half header proving to be the only goal of the game.

Meanwhile, Chelmsford head to a side also keen to register their first win of the season. The Crusaders opened their League campaign with an entertaining 3-2 loss at St Albans City, before the Berkshire side took a share of the spoils with a 1-1 draw against Wealdstone.

Team news:

City boss Rod Stringer will be boosted by the news that defender Michael Spillane and Shaun Batt will be in contention to feature. Meanwhile, Jordan Chiedozie and Jonny Giles remain doubts.

Recent signing, Chris Whelpdale, will be available for selection after a deal was completed earlier today.

Lining up in the Crusader’s squad could be former Clarets defender Marvel Ekpiteta. Marvel made 28 appearances for City during the 2015-16 season.

From the camps:

Chelmsford boss Rod Stringer felt his side lacked a cutting edge in the final third against Dartford on Tuesday evening.

“I was a bit disappointed when we haven’t taken any chances, but I thought over the first 25 minutes we were good. I thought we looked like the proper side.

“I then went off and since then the game went a bit nip and tuck, they’ve got the goal and unfortunately, we couldn’t get back in it.

“You’ve got to give Dartford credit, it’s the first time we’ve lost here in a long time. I suppose it’s a numbers game and sooner or later you’ve got to lose a game. Overall, I’m disappointed."

Admission:

Admission prices at Bulpit Lane are as follows:

Adults £12, Concessions £6, Children U14 Free, 14 to 16-year-olds £6.

Social Media Coverage:

Chelmsford City will provide coverage of the game on the usual Social Media channels, including Twitter and Instagram.

A post-match report and interview will be found on the Club Website and Clarets TV following the match.
