The former Peterborough United midfielder had an unstoppable month for the Clarets, impressing in each of the fixtures against Hungerford Town, East Thurrock United and Gloucester City.
Whelpdale played an instrumental role in maintaining City’s pressure on Torquay United and Woking at the top of the Vanarama National League South.
The Clarets midfielder has scored five goals in five matches, striking twice throughout the month. Whelpdale’s brace of goals both came against Hungerford Town as Whelpdale scored a Goal of the Season contender to open the scoring in a 4-1 win over the Crusaders.
Whelpdale’s form continued from January into February, with the midfielder producing excellent performances in the home victory over East Thurrock United and a draw at Gloucester City.
Chris’ form has continued into March as he levelled the score-line against Concord Rangers with an excellent individual goal.
After receiving the monthly award, Whelpdale said to the Club Website:
“"It's brilliant" he said. "It's great to be noticed for my performances recently, but it's not just for myself, it's for the team and the management staff who have put all of the effort in as well, so it's for them as well.
"I think the volley against Hungerford has to be my favourite goal so far. It was outside the box, it happened really quickly.
"At the weekend against Concord, that was pretty special as well; dribbling into the box. It was a very different goal for me, they're normally long-range shots or headers at the back post!"
City boss Rod Stringer was also full of praise for the midfielder.
"I'm delighted" he said. "Chris is an out-and-out professional.
"He has the right attitude, desire and still has the burning ambition to do well in the game.
"For me, that's massive and he's been one of our big positives this season.
"I'm really pleased for him and hopefully he'll be able to help us get to where we need to get to."
