Aveley Preview (Friendly): Clarets seek match fitness away to Millers

7 months ago By Matt Lee

Chelmsford City look to maintain match fitness as they travel to Aveley for a mid-season friendly tomorrow night (7.45pm KO).

Rod Stringer will be keen to maintain fitness levels ahead of a busy Christmas period for City, with the Clarets facing Welling United before a double-header with Essex rivals Braintree Town on Boxing Day and New Years Day.

Chelmsford were due to play-out their game in hand on Saturday afternoon with a visit to Hemel Hempstead, however adverse weather conditions led to the postponement of City’s away trip.

James Webster’s Aveley side host Stringer’s men at their new Parkside Stadium, however the Millers have won just three of their eleven home League matches - meaning they sit 21st in the Bostik North Division.

Team News:

City remain without Lee Barnard through injury, however Chelmsford boss Rod Stringer will be boosted by the return of Anthony Church and Elliot Omozusi. Scott Davies also returns to the fold after missing the Gloucester City match two weekends ago through injury. Craig Braham-Barrett returns to contention for selection having been suspended for the Gloucester trip.

Jonny Giles is in contention for some minutes as he comes close to making a full return from injury.

Social Media Coverage
Chelmsford City will provide live minute-by-minute coverage of the game at Vauxhall Road on Twitter (@OfficialClarets) as well as live audio commentary on Radio Clarets. A match report and interviews will be found on the Club Website and ClaretsTV following the match.
