FANTASY LEAGUE

By
Peter Foster
It
was 'slim pickings' for Fantasy points seekers following City’s
1-1 draw at Ramsgate on Tuesday evening. Having suffered the
8 point penalty for making a transfer, my “Messageboard Martyrs’” lead
at the top is down by 8 points this week to just 2
with a score for the Ramsgate game of 1 point
and an overall score after 14 Fantasy games of 200.
Remaining in
2nd spot this week, and with their joker to come, are Paul Gorrie's "Ginger
Ningers" with a score of 9 with Bobby Brewster’s “Zee
Bobby’s French Brigade” moving up a place to third just 3 points
further behind with a score of 8 this time. Andrew Southgate’s “Springfield
Oskars” remain favourites for the wooden spoon position with
a score this week of 2 and an overall score of 84 now
16 points adrift at the foot of the table. It looks in the bag,
Andrew!
But with
6 games to come and just 29 points covering the top 18 sides (11
of whom are yet to nominate their joker game) the CCFC Fantasy
League for 2006/07 makes the race for this season’s Ryman Premier
League title look like a walkover in comparison!
Top scorers
this week are Simon Brewsters' “Roding Rangers” with
a subtle 10 points.
Please
let me know if you would like to make any transfers or wish to
nominate your “joker” match or if you need any further information.
For example, let me know if you require a breakdown of your fantasy
points score. I can also send you the full file if you request
it. This file includes the full records of each member's score.
For the Ramsgate
last Tuesday:
Glenn
Pennyfather’s Man of the Match was Ben Chenery (+3).
There
were no City bookings as such, just the two sendings off – Lee
Boylan and Bryan Glover (-5 each)
Substitutions
were as follows:
45th
minute Bryan Glover came on for Jason Rose
46th minute Jason Hallett came on for Jay Conroy
75th minute Dwain Clarke came on for Spencer Knight
The goal
was scored by Lee Boylan (+5) with Bryan Glover (+3) assisting.
Please
note that the highest scoring City players after 14 fantasy
games are Kezie Ibe with 89 points, Ricky Holmes
with 75, Jeff Minton with 60, Jason Hallett with 50, Lee
Boylan and Ben Chenery with 31, Ashley Harrison with 30
and Fiston Manuella with 29.

Notes
A
C.C.F.C. Official (one who has not entered a team in the Fantasy
League!) will decide any debatable key contributions to a goal.
The Man of the Match Award will be decided by a member of the C.C.F.C.
management team. Any points errors spotted by entrants will be
amended in the following week’s update. No debate will be entered
into upon the merits of the Man of the Match Award or key contributions.
The judges' decisions are final!

Updates
Regularly
updated Fantasy League Tables will be published in the programme,
sent to you attached to an E-Mail and featured on the official
Chelmsford City Website.
Entry
Fee
The
Entry Fee is £20 per team and ALL proceeds will be donated to Chelmsford
City club funds. Cheques should be made payable to “Chelmsford
City F.C.”. Cash should only be used when handed over in person,
never through the post.
Prizes
The
winner of the competition will receive the engraved trophy at the
end of the season to hold for a year, together with a smaller engraved
trophy to retain. The bottom-placed manager will receive the highly-coveted
Wooden Spoon award. Remember - it’s not the winning that’s important,
it’s the taking part! For the months of January through to April
there will be prizes for “The Bitterscene* Manager of the Month,” which
will be won by the manager grossing the most points in that particular
month.
*
Bitterscene – the live music club for the indie-pendently
minded! At the Bassment, Wells Street, on the last Wednesday of
every month (www.bitterscene.co.uk).
Transfers
You
may transfer up to a maximum of six players during the competition
but the value of your team must not exceed £50k at any time
and your team must include at all times at least one player from
each category plus two others from any of the categories. A
transfer is defined, of course, as “one player in and one player
out”. For each transfer you make, you will have 8 points deducted
from your current points total. You can start making transfers
as soon as you like after the final whistle against A.F.C. Wimbledon
on 9th January.
Any
new players signed by the club will be added to the list of players
throughout the season and will be available for transfer into your
team. The availability of these additional players (and their values)
will be flagged by the same means as those used to send out the
Fantasy League table. i.e. publication in the programme, by e-mail
and on the Official website. However, no new players will be
added to the original list until after the league has commenced
on 9th January. To encourage early entries, please note
that you may amend your entry, once submitted, as much as you like
up until 7:45pm on 9th January. This will mean that
you can still make amendments to your team to allow, for example,
for any long-term injuries suffered or for players leaving the
club between your entry being submitted and the competition start-date
of 9th January.
Your
transfers will become effective from the match immediately following
the time that you communicate the details of your transfers. To
make a transfer, you will need to contact Peter Foster (contact
details below).
Fantasy
Joker
As
per last season, entrants will be able to utilise the Fantasy
Joker option. We are all very familiar, I’m sure, with the
concept of the “Joker Card” in quizzes and competitions. In pub
quizzes, for example, they may have 10 “rounds” of questions, each
with differing topics. Teams have a “Joker” which is essentially
an option they are given which they can exercise for any one round
they wish (i.e. to “play their joker”) and any points scored count
double.
Each
of the entrants in the league will be able to nominate one Ryman
League match when the points scored for their team will count double.
This only applies to league games, i.e. the Fantasy Joker option
cannot be used for any Play-Off matches that the club may be involved
in. This is a “free” option, i.e. unlike transfers, you will not
be deducted any points for “exercising your joker”. Please note
that, whereas in the past you may have had to give at least a week’s
notice of your intention to “play your joker”, for this season
you may nominate your joker game at any time before the match starts,
right up until kick-off. Please note that, although the Fantasy
Joker is a “free” option, it is also a compulsory one. Therefore,
if you have not nominated a game in which to play your joker before
the last game of the season, that last game (versus Harrow Borough
on 28th April) will, by default, be the game in which
you will deemed to be playing your Fantasy Joker.
The
arrangements for communicating the details of your intention to “play
your joker” are the same as that for transfers, i.e. you will need
to contact Peter Foster (contact details below)
How
To Enter
The
downloadable Word document HERE should
be completed in accordance with the instructions in this document.
Then, either:
(a)
hand in your completed entry form and entry fee to the club shop
on a match-day or to Gary Mixture or Peter Foster at any game up
to and including the A.F.C. Wimbledon match on 9th January
(if at the A.F.C. Wimbledon game, your form must be received prior
to kick-off);
(b)
post your entry form and cheque (made payable to “Chelmsford City
FC” - no cash to be posted, please) to the club at Chelmsford City
F.C., Chelmsford Sport & Athletics Centre, Salerno Way, Chelmsford,
Essex, CM1 2EH. You must post it to arrive no later than 9th January;
(c)
E-mail your entry form to Rachel Kirby at the club HERE.
Your Entry Fee can then follow by using either method (a) or (b)
above. We will have a sympathetic ear for anyone who pleads poverty
and needs to wait until the end of January to get their payment
to us. However, your actual Entry Form must still be with us by
7:45pm on 9th January.
N.B.
Please ensure that all entries are marked “Fantasy Football Competition”,
regardless of which of the options above you choose to submit your
entry.

may also confirm any transfers or the playing or your Fantasy Joker
by simply informing Peter first-hand at any match, either verbally
